Connect Plus Top of Class at CIHT Awards

Connect Plus has won a prestigious award for its application of technology to the motorway network.

The CIHT Colas Award for Technological Application was awarded to Connect Plus for its use of the Wavetronix Roadside Radar System.

The system was pioneered on the Connect Plus network to detect traffic from the roadside. It was developed in partnership with the technology provider ERH and removes the need for installing or repairing existing underground ‘loops’.

The devices only require minimal maintenance, which can be carried out from the hard shoulder and their use removes the need for disruptive lane closures that would affect the traffic flow on the road.

One device can cover up to ten lanes of traffic and significantly enhances the safety of both road users and workers on the M25.

Nigel Russell, Managing Director of Connect Plus Services, said: “This technology is a significant advance on previous traffic detection methods and benefits all our stakeholders, from the road user to our customer. I am delighted that we’ve been able to introduce Wavetronix to the network and for the recognition that our efforts have been given by our peers in the industry”.
