Connect Plus 'Finalist' in Construction News Awards

Connect Plus has been awarded the prestigious, ‘Finalist’ marque, by the Construction News awards for its work to repair a vital motorway viaduct in London following a fire under the M1.

The Deansbrook project was entered in the Effective Partnership’s project and brought together stakeholders from the government to subcontractors in a huge effort to get one of the country’s most vital arteries running smoothly.

The result of effective partnership at Deansbrook was a project that was completed on time and under budget. The repair period affecting traffic on the M1 lasted just 12 weeks, a full working week less than originally planned.

The project incorporated a form of Early Contractor Involvement, the new Business Information Management tool, ‘optioneering workshops’ and many other effective partnership methods.

The project was led by Connect Plus and involved Atkins (design), Mabey Hire Services (propping), SABRE (jetting specialists), Balvac (concrete repair), and parent company, Balfour Beatty (project management).

The event on 10th July 2012 was attended by a 1000 of the key players in the construction industry with entries from some of the highest profile pictures in the construction industry.

Nigel Russell, Managing Director of Connect Plus Services, said: “While it is disappointing not to have won this award, it is a huge achievement to even be among the finalists among such an impressive field of candidates. I am extremely proud of our work on the Deansbrook Viaduct which saw us tackle a virtually unknown type of structural repair on one of the busiest sections of motorway in Britain in just nine months”.
