Asset Engineer – Structures & Tunnels
We are currently looking for an Asset Engineer – Tunnels / Structures to join our team based at Dartford. This is a role to support the Structures Asset Management Team in management of the M25 structures portfolio with a focus on tunnel civils/building infrastructure. In addition, the role will at times be involved with the asset management of other structures. This is an important role which will involve supporting the management of 5 No. tunnels and other structures aligned to long-term strategic plans to achieve contract performance and asset management objectives.
The role will ideally require a background and knowledge of civil engineering principles, asset degradation and maintenance needs for tunnels. You will be involved in the full asset lifecycle processes including; inspection, condition data review, maintenance, identification of renewal works and developing long term strategies for both tunnel and structural assets.
There will be a need to coordinate strategy with Operational and M&E Asset Teams and represent asset in regular tunnel coordination meetings.
Analysis of condition data is a key activity for reviewing and updating long term strategy to identify and forecast renewal and maintenance interventions. This work is supported by CPS Decision Support Tools.
Additional activities will involve administration and improvement of tunnel condition data held within Asset Management Systems, ensuring data governance/data quality consistently meets DBFO contractual requirements and assisting with the production of structures 1, 5 and 30 Year Asset Maintenance Plans.
For long term sustainability a key activity will be to identify areas to promote innovation within the long-term tunnel Maintenance Plans which will have potential to achieve safety, serviceability & economic benefits for our Client.
Successful applicant/s will gain an insight from experienced engineering and asset management professionals. Involvement in the activities above will give successful applicants a good understanding of the end to end asset management process from inspection through to delivering the forward renewal work programme. The role would allow suitable experience to be gained to achieve professional membership with Institution of Civil Engineers and/or Institute of Asset Management.
· Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Tunnels, Structures or related subject.
· Working towards Professional Qualification, MICE, MIAM, MIStructE, or similar
· Highways/Structures Maintenance experience
· Tunnel construction and/or Tunnel maintenance/renewal experience would be advantageous
· Risk identification and management (particularly in relation to tunnel infrastructure)
· Skills in Office Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or others
· Advanced Excel user skills would be advantageous
