Connect Plus services (CPS) is a joint Venture project with Balfour Beatty, Atkins, and Egis. We operate and maintain the M25.

The M25 is the busiest section of motorway in Europe and requires careful and efficient planning of work to deliver over £100m of annual investment in the highway infrastructure each year, in addition to planned and reactive maintenance activity.

Role Purpose

We are looking for a Team Leader to manage a team of control room operators, ensuring the consistent delivery of a high standard of service and performance in the operation and management of the strategic M25 DBFO road network

Your role is key to supporting and directing the activities of the control room in coordinating the deployment of appropriate resources to successfully resolve incidents in compliance with safety, policy, and contractual requirements.

Day to day duties include:

  • Accurately receive and disseminate information to optimize safety and maximize efficient response and resolution of incidents.
  • Ensure that CCTV, tunnel, and bridge safety systems are monitored and that an appropriate response is taken to alarms.
  • Ensure accurate recording /collation and disseminate of information.
  • Ensure that relevant colleagues and stakeholders are updated of critical incidents via the escalation process

It is crucial to this role that you can build a strong, effective working relationship with stakeholders and internal partners as you coordinate and act upon decision making to ensure the safety of customers on the M25.

Given the vital work our control rooms perform we are looking for a calm and proactive manager who can bring stability, authenticity, and a positive approach as and when required.

This is a management position and therefore you need to be an individual that can inspire people, drive performance and support development of people’s careers. You will also be expected to proactively manage cyclical activities such as performance development reviews and mandatory training

Who we are looking for:

We are ideally looking for someone with experience of Incident Management structures and escalation processes. You would need to remain calm under pressure, prioritise the response to multiple events simultaneously and resolving issues to a safe conclusion.

Other skills ideally sought are:

  • Experience of working in an operational control room, preferably in an emergency service or Highway’s environment
  • Experience of working in an environment involving the time-critical deployment of resources
  • Aptitude for effective problem solving, using information to consider options and outcomes
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the commercial implications of operational decisions
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and coaching a team
  • Ability to operate and interrogate several Windows based systems simultaneously to a high level of competence.

The post holder must meet the requirements of a BPSS clearance.
