At Connect Plus Services, we’re looking for a talented individual to join our Engineering team on the M25 DBFO, where you’ll take on a variety of highway renewal designs and play a key role in reviewing new standards for contract changes. Your work will involve coordinating with various internal teams—such as Asset Managers, Project Delivery, and Service Delivery—as well as engaging with external partners like Connect Plus, National Highways, and the CP Construction Framework. The ability to work seamlessly across these groups will be essential to your success.

Accountabilities: Drive Change and Make an Impact

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design Leadership: Develop, refine, and review design packages for renewal schemes like drainage, signage, fencing, and VRS, aligning with asset management and client needs.
  • Standards Shaping: Play a key role in the Change in Standards team, reviewing and implementing new standards to keep us ahead of industry changes.
  • Quality and Compliance: Prepare CDM 2015 Principal Designer documentation, ensuring design quality and compliance with industry standards and the M25 DBFO Contract.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with technical specialists, commercial leads, and CPS teams to achieve project goals and milestones, building strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Progress and Reporting: Manage progress updates, programme management, and reporting for assigned projects. Lead performance, technical, and commercial review meetings.
  • Strategic Support: Provide essential information to the commercial team for accurate cost estimates and strategic decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive the ongoing enhancement of the Change in Standards process to ensure operational excellence.
  • Standards Review: Review new standards and coordinate with National Highways to develop and implement effective strategies.

Who we are looking for?

 

Qualifications/ skills:

  • Broad knowledge of Design, Manual of Roads and Bridges (DMRB), The Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW) and other highways standards.
  • Experience of delivering highway design
  • Understanding of risk management principles
  • Minimum BEng / MEng (or equivalent) in a civil engineering or other construction-based discipline
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Experience:

  • Experience at an intermediate level in the design, delivery, or asset management of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience

  • Experience of managing projects through complete lifecycle

Location:

 

This is a hybrid role designed to fully maximize team collaboration on the project, we therefore expect a minimum of 60% of your time to be spent at a CPS offices.
