About the role
Make a real difference at one of the UK’s busiest road crossings
Are you calm under pressure, committed to excellent customer service and ready for a varied frontline role? Connect Plus is looking for a professional and dependable Security Officer to join our team at the Dartford Crossing Estate.
Working as part of an experienced Security Team, you will help keep our people, visitors, facilities and operations safe. No two shifts will be the same: one day you could be monitoring CCTV or patrolling the estate, and the next you may be supporting cyclists across the crossing, managing access or responding to an incident.
This role operates across 12-hour shifts on a 4 on, 4 off rota, which may include day or night working. Flexibility is therefore essential.
What you’ll be doing
You will work across a range of security operations, including the Security Office, vehicle and foot patrols, cycle transport and the Kent Marshalling Area. Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and operating CCTV and other security systems.
- Patrolling the road network and depot locations on foot and in a 4×4 vehicle.
- Responding professionally and promptly to security-related incidents.
- Managing keys, contractor permits and accurate security audit trails.
- Supporting the safe transport of cyclists across the River Crossing.
- Marshalling vehicles entering the Kent Marshalling Area, including processing dangerous goods vehicles.
- Liaising with colleagues, contractors, visitors, the general public, DVSA and the emergency services.
- Delivering a first-class customer experience while consistently following security policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a relentless focus on safety and Zero Harm.
Who we’re looking for
You will be a confident communicator who can build positive working relationships and make sound decisions in a busy operational environment. You will also bring:
- A strong customer focus and a courteous, professional approach.
- The ability to remain composed and work effectively under pressure and to tight timescales.
- Excellent teamwork, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- A flexible outlook, with the initiative to manage several priorities.
- A willingness to learn, attend training and work at other Connect Plus sites when required.
- A full UK driving licence and the confidence to drive a 4×4 patrol vehicle in all conditions.
Customer service, security, specialist security discipline or first-aid experience would be advantageous, but your attitude, judgement and commitment to delivering a safe, reliable service are equally important.
