What You’ll Be Doing
In this varied and rewarding role, you will play a key part in safeguarding and enhancing Surrey’s natural environment. Your work will combine hands-on inspections with strategic planning, giving you the opportunity to see the direct impact of your efforts.
You will:

Carry out annual walked and driven surveys of individual trees and woodlands, helping to protect and preserve Surrey’s green assets.

Commission and oversee contractors delivering essential tree works, ensuring high standards and environmental care.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records through our tree inspection database.

Provide expert guidance on tree root protection zones for construction and development projects.

Contribute to the creation and delivery of landscape improvement schemes, working closely with our Landscape Supervisor.

Offer advice and direction to our supply chain to ensure safe and responsible working practices.

Monitor hazardous third-party trees, liaising with landowners where action is required.

Support Ash Dieback management in line with established internal processes.

Provide input into environmental assessments, influencing the development of high-quality, sustainable landscapes.
Who We’re Looking For – Key Requirements
We’re seeking a motivated and knowledgeable professional who shares our passion for protecting and enhancing the environment. You will bring:

Proven experience in tree inspection and management, with a sound understanding of arboricultural techniques and industry best practice.

A current LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection award.

A minimum NQF Level 3–4 qualification in Arboricultural Management (or equivalent).

Strong tree and fungi identification skills.

Membership of the Arboricultural Association or Institute of Chartered Foresters.

A full, valid driving licence.

(Desirable) Experience working in a highways environment.

Basic knowledge of mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS or similar).

Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
