About the Role
The purpose of the Supervisor role within Connect Plus Services (CPS) is to support the delivery of safe, efficient and compliant construction and maintenance activities across the network. Acting as a key interface between site teams, contractors and stakeholders, the Supervisor ensures all works are delivered in accordance with approved RAMS, site work packs and relevant health, safety and quality standards.
The role involves managing day‑to‑day site operations, overseeing permit compliance, coordinating NEC contract requirements, and supporting the Works Manager in delivering projects to programme and specification. It also includes responsibility for overseeing the commercial, safety and quality performance of the PP18 contract, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with subcontractors to ensure exemplary standards of delivery.
Effective communication and meticulous record‑keeping are essential, providing clear feedback to the Asset team and ensuring a consistent flow of accurate information.
What You’ll Be Doing
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Conduct site safety inspections and lead site briefings.
- Enforce compliance with the CPP and EMP.
- Report incidents, lead investigations and authorise safe resumption of works.
- Promote a strong safety culture through DWB reporting and visible on‑site leadership.
Project Management & Contract Administration
- Manage compensation events (up to £50k) and support NEC contract processes.
- Coordinate with QS and Project Managers on commercial impacts.
- Review contractor competencies and manage NCRs.
Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Approve RAMS, oversee ITPs and ensure adherence to design standards.
- Carry out snagging, material checks and maintain quality records.
Planning & Reporting
- Submit shift reports via Aconex (labour, plant and progress).
- Monitor and report on programme delivery.
- Manage short‑term schedules and coordinate associated meetings.
Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination
- Liaise with Network Rail, TfL, residents and third parties.
- Engage with internal innovation platforms and site teams.
Permit & Traffic Management
- Manage permits (e.g. confined space, hot works) and traffic management approvals.
- Conduct compliance checks and coordinate closures.
Emergency Response
- Act as an on‑call advisor and qualified first aider.
- Support temporary works reviews and respond to incidents as required.
Who We’re Looking For
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Proven ability to lead and manage site teams effectively.
- Strong capability in driving continuous improvement and industry best practice.
- CSCS Supervisor or Manager card.
- Valid SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- Competence in preparing RAMS, applying quality assurance processes and coordinating temporary works.
- First Aid certification and relevant permit‑issuing qualifications (e.g. Hot Works, Confined Space).
- Strong engineering knowledge and understanding of what ‘good’ looks like on site.
- Experience in the design and construction of highway infrastructure projects.
- Strong written, verbal and client‑facing communication skills.
- Diligent, proactive and thorough with a strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative, practical approach to problem‑solving.
- Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Specification for Highway Works.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience carrying out NEC Supervisor duties.
- Good working knowledge of traffic management and temporary works.
- Civil Engineering or Construction qualification (or equivalent experience).

This is a hybrid role designed to fully maximize team collaboration on the project, we offer flexible working where you will typically be working from your base CPS office, Leatherhead, Dartford or South Mimms up to three days per week and two days from home.
