About the Role

The Security Manager is responsible for ensuring the security of the company’s network infrastructure, assets, and personnel, particularly within the context of the M25 DBFO (Design, Build, Finance and Operate) contract. The role involves developing and implementing security policies, managing security infrastructure, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Security Manager also leads a team of security professionals, fostering a culture of security awareness and best practice.


What You’ll Be Doing

Security Strategy and Policy

  • Develop and maintain the company’s network security strategy, policies, and procedures in line with contractual obligations.

Security Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of network security infrastructure, including all related security systems.

Incident Response

  • Lead responses to security incidents, including investigating breaches, mitigating damage, and implementing corrective actions.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and standards, including data protection, information security, contractual requirements, operational plans, and network resilience.

Risk Management

  • Identify and assess security risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Security Awareness, Vetting, and Exercises

  • Promote security awareness among employees and contractors.
  • Ensure all necessary vetting and security clearances are in place.
  • Support the delivery of table‑top exercises where required.

Team Leadership

  • Take ownership of managing and mentoring a team of security professionals.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other teams across Connect Plus Services, as well as external partners, to ensure a coordinated approach to security.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the organisation’s security posture through new methodologies and improvements.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of network security technologies and associated security systems.

Security Management

  • Experience developing and implementing security policies and procedures.

Incident Response

  • Proven experience in responding to and managing security incidents.

Risk Management

  • Ability to identify and assess security risks effectively.

Compliance

  • Knowledge of relevant security regulations and standards.

Leadership

  • Demonstrable experience leading and motivating a team.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Problem‑Solving

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Relevant industry‑recognised certifications are desirable.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong customer service approach with a focus on providing high‑quality support.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Professional and confident manner.
  • Effective communicator at all levels.

  • Full UK driving licence and the ability to drive a variety of vehicles in all conditions.
