About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Connect Plus Services as a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical), playing a vital part in the smooth and safe operation of the Dartford River Crossing and M25 Tunnels. As one of the most significant infrastructure assets in the UK, the M25 DBFO contract still has just under 15 years left to run, offering you not only a role filled with variety and challenge, but also genuine long‑term stability and room to grow.
No two days are the same. You’ll be hands‑on across a diverse range of mechanical systems — from pumps and fans to complex tunnel support equipment — helping to keep one of the busiest road networks in Europe moving. The role offers the chance to develop your technical skills, take ownership of meaningful work, and contribute to the safety and resilience of a nationally critical asset.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, working closely with experienced engineers, supervisors, and partners across the network. Whether you’re responding to incidents, carrying out planned maintenance, or learning new techniques from colleagues, you’ll be in an environment that encourages development, problem‑solving, and pride in your contribution.
If you’re looking for a role that combines stability, variety, technical challenge, and real career progression, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your future with us.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical), you’ll play a hands‑on and highly valued role in keeping the Dartford River Crossing and M25 Tunnels operating safely, smoothly, and efficiently. Every day will bring a new challenge, and you’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical skills, learn from experienced colleagues, and make a real difference to a vital part of the UK’s road network.
You’ll be involved in a wide range of meaningful work, including:
- Working with a variety of mechanical plant and systems, confidently operating equipment both locally and remotely under normal and emergency conditions.
- Carrying out planned maintenance, inspections, and defect repairs across pumps, fans, pipework and other mechanical systems, helping to keep the network running seamlessly.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, diagnosing faults, and completing repairs — often independently and with trust placed in your expertise.
- Supporting both civil and mechanical maintenance activities, using your skills across different types of work and being open to learning new techniques.
- Driving maintenance vehicles and working safely at incident sites to support early and efficient resolution of hazards.
- Keeping accurate records such as worksheets, maintenance reports, and vehicle checks, ensuring high standards of compliance and safety.
- Ensuring all equipment, plant and vehicles are maintained and ready for safe use, always working to our Health & Safety standards and contributing to our Zero Harm ambition.
- Collaborating with supervisors, engineers, subcontractors and colleagues across the network, contributing to a positive, inclusive team environment.
- Playing your part in our sustainability goals and living the Connect Plus Services values through everything you do.
