As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, based at Dartford, Kent, you’ll be at the heart of keeping the Dartford River Crossing and M25 tunnels safe, operational and resilient. You’ll work on a wide variety of hands‑on tasks ranging from fault‑finding and preventative maintenance to urgent repairs of critical electrical infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient inspection, maintenance and operation of electrical systems across the M25 tunnels and Dartford River Crossing. Your work will involve a blend of planned maintenance, responsive repairs and fault diagnosis—ensuring every day brings new opportunities to develop your expertise.
You will maintain and repair essential electrical equipment including:
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- Pumps and fans
- Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
- Lighting and control gear
- Traffic safety systems (sensors, barriers, traffic signals)
Using your technical knowledge and problem‑solving skills, you will diagnose faults, interpret drawings and carry out repairs independently to minimise downtime and maximise network performance. You will also undertake civil, electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks to support overall asset resilience.
Safety is paramount. You will follow strict health and safety procedures, maintain vehicles, plant and equipment, and respond to emergency incidents—ensuring hazards are managed quickly and operations are restored safely.
You’ll work as part of a skilled and supportive team, contributing to a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement. You will also support the wider commitment to Zero Harm and ongoing professional development within the team.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a skilled, proactive and safety‑focused Electrical Maintenance Technician with proven experience in electrical maintenance, repair and fault‑finding within commercial or industrial environments.
You must have:
- A valid 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) qualification
- Experience working with electrical systems in complex operational settings
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently
- A collaborative mindset and a proactive approach to maintenance
Experience working on tunnels, highways, or large‑scale infrastructure assets would be an advantage but is not essential.
