Are you passionate about utilities, asset protection and keeping people safe in complex construction environments?
We’re looking for an Asset Protection Supervisor to join our Utilities Team and play a key role in protecting vital infrastructure across the M25 network. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with leadership, working on one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.
As part of the Network Operations Team, you’ll help ensure works are delivered safely and compliantly around underground and overground services, supporting both site teams and utility providers to reduce risk and maintain the highest standards of safety and operational performance.
This role offers a unique combination of challenge, variety and long-term career stability. With just under 15 years remaining on the M25 contract, you’ll be joining a project that provides genuine opportunities for professional development, career progression and continuous learning, whilst giving you the security of being part of an established and industry-leading operation.
Whether you’re looking to build on your utilities experience, develop your leadership capability or broaden your involvement in digital utilities management and asset protection, this role gives you the platform to do so within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Asset Protection Supervisor, you’ll support the Asset Protection Team to ensure the project remains compliant with Balfour Beatty Business Management Systems and industry best practice when working near utilities.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Producing, auditing, approving and monitoring Utility Avoidance Permits.
- Supporting site teams by ensuring permits are in place and utilities are clearly identified before work starts.
- Liaising with utility owners to secure the necessary permissions and approvals.
- Supporting compliance with utility-related business processes, standards and industry requirements.
- Planning and managing PAS 128-compliant utility surveys to support the project’s master utility model.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of digital utility records and systems.
- Ensuring accurate production and capture of as-built utility information.
- Promoting awareness of utilities requirements through briefings, toolbox talks and site engagement.
- Supporting internal and external audits relating to utilities management.
- Carrying out utility scanning and service mark-outs on site where required.
- Providing cover for the Asset Protection Lead during periods of absence.
- Championing our Zero Harm philosophy and promoting a positive safety culture.
- Working collaboratively with project teams, utility providers and supply chain partners to deliver successful outcomes.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience in a utilities, asset protection or similar construction-related role.
- Strong understanding of utility detection, scanning and marking out services in accordance with PAS 128.
- Knowledge of HSG47 Avoiding Danger from Underground Services and GS6 requirements.
- Understanding of National Highways Raising the Bar standards, particularly Documents 7 and 9.
- Knowledge of NRSWA requirements.
- Experience supporting construction or highways projects.
- Good understanding of Utility Avoidance Permit systems and safe systems of work.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative team player who promotes positive working relationships.
- Commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing, with a passion for delivering Zero Harm.
- Experience supporting teams to achieve high-quality, right-first-time delivery.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- QCF Level 3 Utilities Mapping & Surveying qualification or equivalent experience.
- Degree qualification in a relevant discipline would be advantageous.
