About the Role

Looking for a career where every shift matters—and where you’re part of something built to last? As a Control Room Operator on the M25, you’ll be part of a dedicated team keeping the UK’s busiest motorway running safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption.

With 15 years of work still ahead on this nationally significant infrastructure project, this role offers more than just job security—it offers a chance to grow your expertise, take real pride in your impact, and be at the centre of mission-critical operations every day.

Working from our Dartford hub in a 24/7 rotational shift pattern, you’ll help manage live traffic, coordinate responses to incidents, and liaise with emergency services and partner organisations to keep the network moving. Your decisions will help safeguard road users and shape the smooth running of one of Europe’s most vital transport corridors.

If you’re looking for a role that combines purpose, progression, and long-term stability—and where calm, clear thinking under pressure makes a real difference—this is the opportunity for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Control Room Operator, you’ll be at the front line of keeping the M25 safe and moving—helping to manage real-time incidents, respond to emergencies, and coordinate activity across one of the UK’s most vital transport networks. Every shift is different, and every action you take will make a measurable difference to road user safety and national connectivity.

In this essential and rewarding role, you will:

  • Lead the response to live incidents—deploying the right teams and resources with calm and confidence

  • Receive and relay critical information clearly and accurately to ensure quick and effective incident resolution

  • Monitor CCTV and key safety systems (including tunnel and bridge networks), responding swiftly when alarms or alerts are triggered

  • Track and record network activity, ensuring data is logged in real time using dedicated systems

  • Keep stakeholders informed, escalating major events through appropriate channels and keeping all teams aligned

  • Work to high performance and quality standards, ensuring every action aligns with policy and procedure

  • Collaborate closely with emergency services, National Highways, TfL, and other contractors to ensure a seamless and unified response

  • Coordinate with key operations centres, such as the Highways England ROC, NTIC, and NILO

  • Support weather-related actions, helping implement the Severe Weather Plan to keep the network safe in all conditions
