About the Role
As a Structures Supervisor, you will ensure the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance and defect‑rectification activities across the M25 network. Your team will be responsible for maintaining structures assets in line with contract requirements.
Managing a team of operatives and overseeing the work of subcontractors, you will help maintain the safety, quality and compliance of all works. Your role will involve planning routine works, scouting defects to assess requirements, delivering daily briefings and debriefings, and ensuring sufficient resources are in place to complete activities safely and on schedule.
You will also play a key role in driving continuous improvement, identifying cost‑saving opportunities and ensuring accurate, timely updates to the Maintenance Management System.
Your effective leadership will contribute to the long‑term performance of the M25 network, ensuring it remains safe, resilient and well maintained.
What You’ll Be Doing
Maintenance Supervision
- Ensure the efficient supervision of all work activities, including those completed by subcontractors.
- Ensure all required information is available before works commence, including raising permits where necessary.
- Scout defects to determine the exact requirements for rectification.
- Plan routine and cyclical works by pre‑scouting areas before closures.
- Update the Maintenance Management System to capture all relevant data relating to work activities.
- Ensure sufficient resources are in place to deliver all works safely and on time.
- Prepare and deliver daily briefings to operatives and subcontractors, covering methodology, hazards, risks and control measures.
- Deliver detailed debriefs at the end of each shift to identify issues and embed lessons learned into future activities.
Safety and Compliance
- Drive Zero Harm objectives by raising risk awareness, mitigating hazards and promoting a proactive safety culture across the team and subcontractors.
- Lead by example to ensure all activities meet safety standards and comply with required systems, processes and procedures.
Leadership
- Manage day‑to‑day people‑management tasks, including performance monitoring, absence management, overtime and annual leave.
- Support the development of team members through ongoing feedback, coaching and training.
Continuous Improvement & Sustainability
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, empowering teams to explore new ideas and solutions to enhance performance.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and contribute to sustainable working practices.
Who We’re Looking For
- Appropriate CSCS qualification
- SMSTS / SSSTS
- Experience delivering structures maintenance operations or similar transferable experience
- Team leadership and management experience, with the ability to drive performance and productivity
- Strong communication skills
- A customer‑focused mindset
Working Arrangements
This role is based on Monday–Friday daytime hours, with the requirement to work nights when operational needs dictate.
