We’re looking for a dedicated Sweeper Driver to join our team based at Scratchwood, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the M25—one of the UK’s busiest and most vital roads.
In this essential role, you’ll carry out a range of duties, from sweeping operations and daily vehicle checks to attending road traffic incidents and clearing debris and spills. You’ll also support general maintenance activities, including traffic management, litter picking, strimming, and removal of hazards—ensuring our network remains safe, clean, and operational.
Attention to detail is key, as you’ll be expected to maintain accurate records and ensure your vehicle is emptied and ready for the next shift.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a valued member of our operational team, you’ll play a hands-on role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and appearance of the M25 network. You’ll work outdoors, across varied environments, where no two days are the same—and your efforts will have a direct impact on millions of daily journeys.
Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out a range of maintenance tasks, such as carriageway repairs, cyclical maintenance, litter picking, cleansing, and soft estate care (e.g., grass cutting)

Performing sign, safety fence, and boundary fence repairs to keep the network safe and compliant

Implementing Chapter 8 Traffic Management in line with company policies and safety procedures

Using mobile devices to accurately record data and complete reports

Conducting routine vehicle checks and keeping up-to-date driving records

Taking care of company equipment, including vehicles, tablets, and radios

Reporting any issues that may impact the safety or operation of the network

Participating in the Winter Service rota when required

Attending training courses to support your development

Working arrangements
-
- Expected to work Mon-Fri, day and night shifts on a rotating basis with 3 weeks of night shifts to 1 week of day shifts.
- Day shifts are 07:00 to 16:00 with a 45-minute break, night shifts are 20:30 to 05:30
- Reasonable level of travel around M25 network and between depots
- Travel to meetings, training and works sites outside normal operational area.
- Expected to participate in out of hours call out rotas e.g. Winter Maintenance

Essential Qualifications:

A valid UK Driving Licence (minimum Category C – LGV Class 2)

A current CSCS Operative Card
Essential Criteria:

Able to successfully pass a security check as part of the recruitment process

Able to pass annual driving licence checks

Must pass pre-employment and random Drug & Alcohol testing

Meet the requirements of our Company Health Screening Programme

Able to understand and follow Health & Safety briefings and contribute to our Zero Harm culture

Physically fit and capable of deploying traffic management equipment (e.g. placing/lifting cones and signage)
