Join our Asset Delivery team as an Estimator initially valuing the Asset Management Forward Work Plan. Liaise with members of the project team & supply chain to develop and understand methodologies and principles proposed.

Role Purpose: 

  • Supporting the Managing & Senior Estimators to develop estimates from 1st Principles associated with the civil portions of multi disciplined Highways Projects across various stages of the estimate.
  • Be a member of the team developing the price.
  • Support more senior members of the team to present, negotiate and justify prices produced in an open and honest manner to both senior leaders within the business and/or external customers/partners.

As an Estimator, you will have the following Key Responsibilities.

  • Undertake estimates in accordance with the companies’ policies and procedures.
  • Review customer’s drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment
  • Oversee and/or interrogate design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
  • Record assumptions and identify risks and opportunities including supporting developing the risk evaluation from a pricing/budgetary point of view.
  • Detailed analysis of subcontractors’ analysis.
  • Take the lead on small/medium size bids to ensure that tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner.
  • Support and/or interrogate design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles. Activities to include:
  • Review drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s procedures, including pre-construction gate process.
  • Review tender documents and submission requirements, ensuring all financial information is identified and provided and accurate compliant design proposals are included.
  • Establish and agree key rates.
  • Agree with engineering and planning key methods, outputs and plant selection.
  • Detailed analysis of subcontractors’ analysis

Experience Required:

Infrastructure Main Contractor background M&E Projects such as Railways but not buildings for example as they will not have enough technical experience.

  • Previous experience in an estimating role, Commercial or operational background considered.
  • Working towards or chartered with a relevant industry recognised chartership e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB Etc (desirable).
  • Experienced estimating background using Candy Estimating Software (desirable but not essential).
  • Good financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation accurately.
  • Proficient in general IT applications e.g. Word and Excel.

Location:

This is a hybrid role designed to fully maximize team collaboration on the project, we therefore expect a minimum of 60% of your time to be spent at a CPS offices.
