We’re looking for a Security Officer to join our team at the Dartford Crossing Estate, helping to protect and support the safe operation of a critical part of the M25 network. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a professional and respected security team, providing a highly visible service to customers, colleagues, contractors and emergency services.

As part of Connect Plus Services, you’ll be contributing to the operation of one of the UK’s most important road networks. With just under 15 years remaining on the M25 contract, this role offers a unique combination of stability, career development and variety. Whether you’re building on existing security experience or looking to develop new skills within a vital operational environment, you’ll be supported to grow and succeed as part of a collaborative team.

Working a 12-hour shift pattern on a 4-on, 4-off rota, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety, security and smooth running of the Dartford Crossing Estate and associated facilities.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Security Officer, you’ll work as part of a professional security team supporting the operation of the Kent Marshalling Area (KMA), Security Office, Cycle Transport Service and Dartford Security Patrols.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and operating security CCTV systems.
• Supporting the safe transport of cyclists across the River Crossing.
• Conducting security patrols and audits across the network and depot facilities, both on foot and by vehicle.
• Responding promptly and professionally to security-related incidents.
• Managing the issue and control of keys and contractor permits.
• Maintaining accurate security records and audit trails.
• Ensuring all security policies, procedures and standards are consistently followed.
• Supporting the Security Office Administrator with day-to-day activities.
• Promoting the organisation’s Security Principles at all times.
• Maintaining a strong commitment to Zero Harm and safe working practices.

Kent Marshalling Area (KMA) Responsibilities

• Marshalling vehicles entering the Kent Marshalling Area.
• Processing and monitoring Dangerous Goods Vehicles.
• Delivering a first-class customer service experience.
• Liaising with the DVSA and Emergency Services.
• Monitoring the Forward Tanker Bay.
• Preparing the KMA as an Emergency Services Rendezvous Point (RVP) when required.
• Following instructions from the Control Room Manager regarding vehicle movements within the KMA.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Experience in customer service environments.
• Previous security experience (desirable).
• Knowledge of a security discipline (desirable).
• First Aid experience (desirable).
• A full UK driving licence with the ability to drive a 4×4 patrol vehicle in all conditions.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with people at all levels.
• Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions.
• A proactive and flexible approach to work.
• The ability to work on your own initiative and manage multiple priorities.
• A willingness to travel to other Connect Plus sites when required.
