Creating Safer, Greener Play Spaces for Local Primary Pupils
As part of our commitment to delivering meaningful social value, improvement works have been completed at Galliard Primary School to enhance outdoor play and learning facilities. The project has created a safer, more accessible and more engaging environment for pupils, while making effective use of existing materials and supply chain support to maximise value and reduce waste.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in this project and to Active Plant Hire for providing an excavator and supporting the removal of excess materials, helping ensure the project was completed efficiently and safely.
Key works included the installation of new artificial grass areas, improved drainage and sub-base construction, a new concrete access ramp to improve accessibility, landscaping enhancements using reused sleepers, planting improvements, and upgrades around the play pit area. The entire space was fully tidied on completion and left ready for immediate use.
The project has delivered lasting benefits for the school by improving safety and accessibility, enhancing outdoor learning and play opportunities, supporting sustainability through reuse of materials, and demonstrating effective collaboration with the local supply chain.
